The term telekinesis comes from the compound of two Greek words: ‘tele’ meaning ‘at a distance’ and ‘kynesis’, which in translation means displacement, movement. Telekinesis refers to those paranormal manifestations that take place without contact, which are materialized by the appearance of phenomena of displacement of an object that is initially at rest, as well as by changes in the trajectory of bodies or objects that are in motion.
The first forms of spontaneous telekinesis were reported mainly in poltergeist cases. When such phenomena occur, a wide range of objects, from items of tableware to pieces of furniture, perform strange movements induced by invisible forces that cannot be determined.
Genuine phenomena of spontaneous telekinesis can occur even without poltergeist-type phenomena. The specific manifestations of telekinesis have often been reported in seances, especially those focusing on physical mediums capable of triggering such phenomena.
In the second half of the twentieth century, research into telekinesis gained momentum, especially with exceptionally gifted human beings such as the Russian Nina Kulaghina, the Jew Uri Geller, Felicia Parise, the American Ingo Swann.
